An Oklahoma City man is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill after allegedly beating his girlfriend and shoving a running garden hose down her throat, according to the Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office.

Michael Edward Brown, 43, is accused of assaulting his girlfriend on February 19. The police report states that Brown first assaulted the victim outside of a bar on S.E. 82nd Street.  She escaped and went back inside the bar where, after a few minutes, a friend offered her a ride home.

When the two left the bar to ride back to his girlfriend's Del City home, Brown was waiting and rode with them.  After she and Brown were dropped off at the home, Brown began assaulting the woman again, striking her repeatedly in the back of the head.

As she was lying on the ground, Brown took a garden hose and pushed it down her throat with the water running causing her to choke.  The victim said she felt as though she was about to drown. She told police this happened two or three times. The police report did not say how she escaped.

The woman went to Midwest Regional Hospital and from there was transferred to OU Medical Center for better treatment for the injuries to her eyes.

Brown has a prior conviction for second degree battery out of Arkansas in 2005.
