AMES, Iowa – OU's comeback had everything except for the actual victory.

After trailing by 17, the Sooners rallied all the way back to within a point, but couldn't finish the job in a 77-71 loss to Iowa State.

The Cyclones looked to be in full control of the game partway through, leading 47-30. But Oklahoma held ISU without a field goal for the next seven minutes, cutting the lead down to 50-42.

With about five minutes remaining, OU started another scoring run to eventually cut the lead down to 61-60.

But the big runs took nearly all of the energy out of the Sooners as Iowa State hit its free throws over the final stretch of the game.

Aaryn Ellenberg had 19 points to lead the Sooners, while Nicole Griffin had a season-high 14, including 8-of-8 from the free throw line. Whitney Hand and Morgan Hook had 13 points apiece.

Ellenberg moved to No. 4 on OU's career 3-pointers list, hitting three in the game to bring her total to 154.

Oklahoma was on-target from the free throw line although it didn't get there often, hitting 13-of-14.

OU will return home on Tuesday to face No. 13 Texas A&M in Norman. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
