An 18-year-old man from Purcell is currently jailed in Cleveland County for allegedly attacking his friend with a machete.

Jak Ivie was arrested Wednesday night in Lexington for suddenly assaulting his friend, Elano Orquiz. Orquiz told reporters that he and Ivie were just "horsing" around when things quickly turned violent.

When asked to recall how the bizarre event unfolded, Orquiz replied that prescription drugs might be the cause of Ivie's violent outburst.

"He was just taking pills and pills," said Orquiz. "I still want to be friends, but not like that!"

Orquiz said that Ivie suddenly lunged at him with a machete, so he used his arm to block his friend's blow. Ivie reportedly launched blows to Orquiz's head and lip when Orquiz tried to fend him off.

The attack left Orquiz injured, requiring stitches. However, he is assured that his injuries are non-life threatening and that he is on the road to recovery.

Court documents stated that Ivie put up a fight before he was arrested and brought to jail. The police had to wrestle him to the ground in order to cuff him.

Ivie is currently held without bond and is yet to be formally charged.
