The Norman Regional Health System is announcing the construction of the Norman Regional Heart Plaza, which will be built adjacent to the Norman Regional HealthPlex off of Interstate 35 and Tecumseh Road.

"The Heart Plaza will become a regional destination site for outpatient heart and vascular care," said David Whitaker, president and CEO of the Norman Regional Health System. "It allows us to put services under one roof, to include physician offices as well as diagnostic services."

The new medical building's close proximity to the HealthPlex will be beneficial and convenient for patients. Parking spaces will be expanded and evenly distributed throughout the site to allow immediate and convenient entries for patients and staff. Interiors will offer natural day lighting, and the building's curved blue glass veneer will be accented with cut stone and masonry.

The HealthPlex will house the Norman Heart Hospital as well as the Chest Pain Center. Together, they will be designated as Medical Park West.

"From visiting a physician's office to surgery to recovery, patients can find it all in one central, dedicated location," said Whitaker. "We are very excited about this opportunity to design a very service oriented and accessible location for patients seeking heart care."

The Norman Regional Health System is scheduled to be completed by Valentine's Day 2013.
