Oklahoma City Police have taken a man into custody following an eight-hour standoff near Martin Luther King Boulevard and N.E. 27th Street.

The standoff started just after 11 p.m. when the owner of Robinson's Garage called police to report a break-in. Officers spotted a man inside the business but he refused to come out.

Officers spent the next several hours negotiating with the suspect. They shut down MLK Boulevard between N.E. 24th and N.E. 28th during the standoff.

The standoff ended just before 7 a.m. Thursday when the Tactical Unit entered the business. They found 49-year-old Freddie Johnson hiding in the trunk of a car. Officers took Johnson into custody without incident.

All streets in the area have reopened.
