A domestic abuse call led to a nearly seven-hour standoff between police and an El Reno man. The suspect, a 46-year-old man, was arrested at around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities said a woman came to the police department and said her husband had made physical threats to her, after she told him she wanted a divorce.

The standoff began when police arrived at the man's apartment Saturday night. The suspect made threats to police and told officers he was armed with a handgun, according to the police department.

Police said when the man began demanding to speak with his wife, the 14-person SWAT team entered the apartment and took the man into custody.

The suspect has four outstanding warrants out of Canadian County. Authorities said a situation like this could cost the department thousands of dollars.

The woman is at a safe location Sunday morning. No one was injured in the incident.
