A miscommunication about a bomb threat to a Choctaw school caused rumors to spread about lockdowns in Harrah, McLoud and Little Axe schools.

Dean Hughes, the superintendent of Harrah Public Schools, told News 9 Friday that someone called in a bomb threat to a school in Choctaw on Thursday. Other schools were informed of the threat, but a miscommunication made it seem they were on lockdown when they were not. Hughes said as a precaution, a sweep was conducted at the school Friday morning before students arrived.

The student who reportedly called in the bomb scare has been identified and Choctaw is taking disciplinary action.
