BRIDGE CREEK, Oklahoma -

He's only in first grade, but tonight a Bridge Creek boy is credited for saving his mother's life. As she lay unconscious on the floor, he made sure she got emergency help.

Just by chance little Cody Babbitt was home sick on Tuesday.

His mother has a medical condition that caused her to pass out and that's when she grabbed an entertainment center that came down on top of her.

Alexis Babbitt has no memory about what happened after that.

But her 6-year-old son Cody clearly recalls hearing his mother scream.

"I went downstairs and the thing was just on her," he told News 9. "Mom told me to call 9-1-1."

The 9-1-1 tape reveals Alexis talked to dispatchers briefly before losing consciousness.

As she was lying on the floor in a pool of blood, it was up to little Cody to get help.

For the next 15 minutes, Cody calmly worked with the dispatcher on the phone while emergency crews made their way to the rural home.

Alexis wasn't breathing and without help, she firmly believes, she would have died.

"Things could have been different," said Alexis. "Because of him I'm here and well and happy. Happy I've got a hero."

Alexis says she has talked to Cody before about if anything should happen that he needs to call 9-1-1. And it paid off.

Cody's mom says she wants to thank all of the emergency responders who helped her that day including the dispatcher.
