OKLAHOMA CITY -

An Oklahoma City man admits to our camera that he shot his own son. Now, News 9 is learning more about the suspect and the victim as investigators are finding new evidence at one of the crime scenes.

It has been just more than a week since D.E. Abbott allegedly shot his son, and now the crime scene tape serves grim reminder of Wednesday's killing as it is being replaced by a small memorial.

"I was more like a brother because [Perry] really didn't have … family," Perry Abbott's friend Eric Walton said.

Walton says he was Perry's only close friend. He says Perry and his father, D.E. Abbott, had lived most of their lives as loners. Walton and his family learned that D.E. admitted to shooting Perry as News 9 broke the story on January 18th.

Since the killing, investigators have combed through evidence found inside D.E.'s motor home and the Abbott household. Some of the evidence is still inside the house. According to court documents, police are looking for multiple guns, ammunition, blood samples, and items such as rope, cords, tape, chains, belts--anything that could be used to hold someone against his will.

Witnesses say D.E. had accused Perry of holding him hostage in his own home, and that is why D.E. says he shot his son.

"Perry said, [D.E.] and Perry were in a little argument then," Walton said. "But, it was just an argument. You don't think nothing of a father-son argument."

Walton recalls a few instances when D.E. and Perry didn't see eye-to-eye. Walton says he is unsure if D.E. was being held against his will because he had only been allowed inside the home two times in the past 20 years.

Walton is working with the Medical Examiner's Office as he tries to take custody of his friend's body. However, Walton says he is having a hard time gaining custody of the body since he is not a relative of the victim.

D.E. Abbott is currently in jail on a murder complaint. Walton says he plans to visit D.E. this weekend.
