Edmond Lowers Speed Limit In Two Areas Due To Construction

Posted: Updated:
EDMOND, Oklahoma -

Drivers in Edmond will need to take it slow in two areas of the city.

According to the Edmond Police Department, the speed limit has changed from 45 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour on Covell from Santa Fe to Thomas Drive and on Kelly from Danforth to Coffee Creek Road.

The speed limit was lowered to 25 miles per hour in these areas due to construction.

Tickets for speeding:

- 10 miles over speed limit $119

- 11-15 miles over $139

- 20 over is considered reckless driving $549

Police say right now, most people are not abiding by the lowered speed limit, so police want to remind drivers in the area to slow down.

The construction will last through the summer and into the fall. Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes.
