Edmond Father Arrested For Drunken Rage Incident, Son Arrested For DUI
EDMOND, Oklahoma - An Edmond father was arrested for punching his son in a drunken rage over the weekend. His son was arrested for driving drunk, and then plowing through yards and right over a street sign.
The city has already repaired the stop sign at the corner of Boulevard and E. 13th, but you can see the damage the son left behind. Neighbors here are just glad there were no adults or children out here when it happened.
"That's out of control there. He really went out of control all the way across the street," Brad Foltz said.
Brad Foltz said he was inside his home Sunday evening when he heard a loud noise.
"My dogs kind of heard it and we looked. He had already disappeared. But we heard the car scraping over the top of the sign coming up the curb there," Foltz said.
Foltz came out to find the stop sign down, the street sign obliterated, and tire tracks in his neighbor's yard.
The driver even took a chunk out of a tree.
"He must have just kept on going right when he hit it," Foltz said.
Edmond Police arrested 34-year-old Ryan Cain a short distance away. Police also arrested his father, Steven Cain, the night before for domestic assault. Police say he had also been drinking, and it's not their first run in with the law.
"We've had Mr. Cain several times over the years dating back to 2003. We do have at least one other DUI with him. So this DUI is going to be a felony DUI. And also he's being charged with leaving the scene of an accident," said Glynda Chu, Edmond Police spokes person.
Police say fortunately no one was seriously hurt in either incident. Both father and son are still behind bars Monday night.
Ryan Cain is being held on $1,500 bond. His father Stephen is being held without bond.
