Taylor Griffin Joins Dakota Wizards D-League Team
OKLAHOMA CITY - After one season playing abroad, Oklahoma native Taylor Griffin has returned to the U.S. and will play for the Dakota Wizard, an NBA Development League team for the Golden State Warriors.
"Officially apart of the NBA D-League team the Dakota Wizard. 1st game today! So ready to be playing again!" said Griffin through his personal Twitter account on Tuesday.
Griffin returns to D-league play after most recently playing for Belgacome Liege of the Belgium Basketball League.
Taylor, the older brother of Clippers star Blake Griffin, was selected in the second round (48th overall) by the Phoenix Suns in the 2009 NBA draft. He split the year with the team and their D-League affiliate, the Iowa Energy where he averaged 9.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 12 games. For the Suns he averaged 1.3 points and 0.3 rebounds in eight games.
Both Griffin's attended Oklahoma Christian School in Edmond where they played together from 2003-2005 before going on to play at the University of Oklahoma.
During his senior season at Oklahoma, Taylor averaged 9.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. He and Blake helped the Sooners to the Elite Eight in the 2009 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.
The Wizard roster now stands at 10 players.
