GRADY COUNTY, Oklahoma - Investigators scoured a Grady County property for clues after a man found his son dead. It happened near the family's home just outside Chickasha Monday afternoon.

The body was identified as 31-year-old Danny Ray Franklin. Right now there are a lot of questions, but authorities are investigating the case as a homicide.

The sheriff told News 9 Franklin talked to his father Sunday. The family dog was acting strange, which prompted the father to check the barn behind their home Monday morning, that's when he discovered his 31-year-old son dead.

Michael Spell has been living on County Road 1383 and moved here because it's peaceful. Monday, the view from his front window is crime scene tape.

"Quite a shocker seeing this media traffic. This is a very quiet neighborhood," Spell said.

And now investigators are trying to determine if Danny Ray Franklin died quietly, and what happened behind his parents' home.

"They are pretty much to themselves. A lot of traffic in and out, but good people," Spell said.

The Grady County Undersheriff said the Franklins own a surveyor business next to their home, and are well-respected in the community. Although the death is now being called a homicide, Spell said he's suspicious.

"Keep my eyes open a bit more," Spell said.

No word on suspects, but the sheriff is working with OSBI to determine what happened.
