NORMAN, Oklahoma – As first reported in December, sources close to the OU program have confirmed to News 9 Sports Director Dean Blevins that Mike Stoops will re-join the OU coaching staff this week.

He will return as the secondary coach and co-defensive coordinator, also responsible for calling plays for the defense.

Sources tell Dean that defensive coordinator Brent Venables and assistant coordinator Bobby Jack Wright are fully on board with the decision.

Current secondary coach Willie Martinez is the odd man out in the rotation. He has reportedly been in contact with coaches on other teams about job positions.

News9.com and NewsOn6.com will bring you the latest on this story as it unfolds in Norman.
