STILLWATER, Oklahoma – Oklahoma State not only picked up its first conference win on Saturday, but did it in impressive fashion over a ranked team.

The Cowgirls cruised past No. 23 Texas 70-51 at Gallagher-Iba Arena in their second Big 12 game, moving to 1-1 in conference and 9-2 overall.

OSU got a boost from a pair of the double-doubles posted by Liz Donohoe and Toni Young.

Donohoe had 13 points and 13 boards while Young put up 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Kendra Suttles had 15 points to lead the Cowgirls in scoring and Lindsey Keller scored 13 points to go with five boards in just 17 minutes of play.

The Cowgirls started hot, going up 8-0 in the first five minutes of the game.

But the Longhorns took the entire half clawing their way back into it, cutting the lead to 33-30 at halftime.

Texas took its first and only lead of the game on a layup from Cokie Reed about a minute into the second half. She was fouled on the play and hit the free throw to lead 35-33.

The Cowgirls quickly put those hopes to rest, going on a 10-0 run (part of a larger 14-2 run) to put the game out of reach for good. Their final margin of the victory was the biggest lead of the game.

Chelsea Bass led the Longhorns (10-4, 0-2) with 12 points and Cokie Reed added 10.

Oklahoma State actually struggled shooting the ball a bit at 37 percent, but made up for it by holding the Longhorns to just 23 percent shooting as a team.

The Cowgirls also forced 23 turnovers and scored 28 points off of them.

OSU faces a tough test next with a trip to top-ranked Baylor on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
