Authorities have not released the name of a man who was shot and killed early Friday morning by a Cleveland County Sheriff's deputy.

Around 4 a.m., the deputies went out to secure the area while investigators looked into some suspected cases of arson in the 20000 block of East Etowah Road in Noble.

Deputies said they saw several people outside a building when they arrived at the scene. The sheriff's office said one man pulled out a gun and pointed it at the deputies.

The deputy pulled out his own firearm and shot the man. The suspect died at the scene.  His name has not been released.

Deputies and undercover agents remained in the area all day to investigate the shooting.  The deputy involved in the shooting has not been identified.
