Late-game fireworks lifted the Guthrie Bluejays to a 71-69 win over the Northwest Classen Vikings Thursday in the opening round of the Bishop McGuiness Tournament Thursday.

Early in the game, Guthrie held a 16-point lead, but the Vikings chipped at the lead and closed it to just two points with 16 seconds remaining. Trell Harris went to the line for a pair of shots with a chance to tie, hit the first, but missed the second.

However, Terry Arnold was there for the rebound and a put-back to put Northwest Classen in front 69-68 with 7.9 left to play.

Guthrie pushed the ball down the floor quickly and Shron Parker put up a prayer and hit the buzzer-beating three-pointer to put the Bluejays on top.
