Gundy Channels Inner Cowboy, Rides Mechanical Bull

STILLWATER, Oklahoma -

Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy had some fun of his own during the Cowboys' trip to Arizona for the Fiesta Bowl.

A few days before OSU played Stanford in the team's first BCS Bowl, Coach Gundy took a ride on a mechanical bull—and was quite successful at it.

So how exactly did Gundy end up riding the bull?

While at a local restaurant in Scottsdale, Coach Gundy's youngest son wanted to test his stills against the bull.

Gundy obliged and gave his son some cash to go give the eight second challenge a try, but he soon found out he was too young to ride, as you have to be over 18 to participate, so he passed the buck to dad.

Gundy originally refused but after one of his sons challenged his dad saying "that's because you can't stay on it" he changed his mind.

That little comment is what it took to get the head coach to go for a ride on the bull.

"I said, 'I can stay on it,' and so on and so forth, and there it went," Gundy told reporters. "I got a little nervous when you had to sign off and sign a waiver, a release of liability I guess. But it was a good time."

Coach Gundy channeled his inner cowboy and rode the bull for more than 35 seconds.

The Cowboys went on to win its first ever BCS bowl game with a 41-38 win over the Stanford Cardinal.
