KKK Leaves Fliers On Doors Asking For Recruits

Posted: Updated:

Residents in Paden, Boley, and Okemah woke up this morning to find fliers from the Ku Klux Klan on their front yards.

The fliers appear to be recruitment fliers listing "Twenty reasons why you  (if qualified ) should join, aid and support the United White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan."

The Okfuskee County Sheriff's Office confirms it is investigating.  They are getting e-mails from viewers in the towns of Boley, Paden and Okemah saying they found the flyers when the woke up this morning.

A spokesperson in Oklahoma City for the Ku Klux Klan confirms they did distribute the fliers overnight.

"We just wanted to let everyone know we are still around," said the man who didn't want to want to be identified.  "If we offended anyone we apologize."

News 9's Dana Hertneky is in Okfuskee County right now talking to them and gathering more information on the flyers.
