The year in review begins with a weather story. The early February winter storm dumped a foot of snow on Oklahoma City, even more on Tulsa, and resulted in 16 counties getting federal disaster assistance.

Pharmacist Jerome Ersland's May 26th conviction and life sentence for shooting and killing a 16-year-old would-be robber set off a firestorm of protest, and a petition drive to have him set free.

In August, a 25-year-old man with a history of mental illness climbed and stayed atop a Tulsa communications tower for more than five days before finally letting a negotiator bring him down.

Days later, wildfires erupted across the state, with some of the worst fires sweeping through northeast Oklahoma City and destroying numerous homes.

The murder of Nichols Hills fire chief Keith Bryan September 21st, and the subsequent arrest of his wife sent shock waves through the metro.

A 5.6 magnitude earthquake sent real shock waves through the metro November 5th.. the quake was the strongest ever recorded in the state and did serious damage around its epicenter in Lincoln County.

Then more shock this month, as authorities announced the arrest of Kevin Sweat in the 2008 murders of Skyla Whitaker and Taylor Placker of Weleetka.
