OKLAHOMA CITY – It was a tough way for the Barons to ring in the New Year, as Oklahoma City suffered a tough 4-3 loss to the San Antonio Rampage on Saturday night at the Cox Convention Center.

The Barons had gone five straight games leading up to it without a true loss, earning points for wins, overtime losses and shootout losses along the way.

San Antonio got on the board first with a power play goal at the 6:06 mark of the first period. But it didn't take long for OKC to respond.

Ryan Keller fired a pass to Josh Green, who backhanded a shot into the goal at the 8:39 mark to tie it up.

But after the initial scoring burst, things slowed down dramatically for both teams.

The rest of the first remained scoreless, and the Rampage were the only ones able to manage a goal in the second period to lead 2-1 after two.

But the third period saw quite a bit more action.

Three minutes into the third, Barons forward Annti Tyrvainen found the back of the net to even up the score at two apiece.

San Antonio forwards Scott Timmins and David Marshall quickly responded with what would prove to be the game-winning goals midway through the third, however.

Hunter Tremblay picked up a late goal for the Barons but it was not enough to finish out 2011 with any points.

The Barons pulled goalie David LeNeveu late to add an extra attacker but couldn't get the job done.

It was the eighth straight game for the Barons that was decided by one goal. OKC leads the league in games decided by one goal at 23 total, and holds a record of 13-6-1-3 in those games.

OKC does not have any time to rest up as it will take on Houston tomorrow afternoon at 5 p.m. on the road.
