Oklahoma Traffic Fatalities Increase In November

Officials with the Department of Public Safety say there is an increase in traffic fatalities on Oklahoma roads in November, compared to the same month last year.

According to the report, fatalities were up by four in November with a total of 53, compared to 49 in November, 2010.

The Department of Public Safety provided the following statistics:

1. Five motorcyclist and two pedestrians died in crashes during November.

2. Two of the fatality crashes were alcohol-related.

3. There were 35 male, 18 female victims. Eight of the fatality victims were age 20 or under.

4. The highest number of fatality crashes was on County Roads with 19.

5. There were 13 fatalities on State Highways.

According to DPS statistics, 54 percent of those who died in traffic collisions were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
