A man was killed and another one was injured in a two-vehicle collision in Grant County Friday afternoon.

It happened at 5 p.m. on U.S. 81, about three miles north of Pond Creek in Grant County.

Forty-year-old Jon P. Morrison of Enid, Oklahoma was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Wilson Funeral Home in Pond Creek, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a 2011 Dodge Caliber driven by Morrison was northbound on U.S. 81 when it crossed the center line at a curve, striking a 2006 Chevy pickup driven by 48-year-old Gary Hula.

According to the collision report, Hula was southbound on U.S. 81 at the time of the collision, and crossed the center line in an attempt to avoid colliding with Morrison's car.

Morrison was pinned in the car for 40 minutes, and Hula was pinned in his vehicle for 30 minutes before being freed.

Hula was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in stable condition with head, leg, and trunk external injuries.

Troopers said Morrison was not wearing a seatbelt, but Hula was wearing one at the time. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
