OKLAHOMA CITY -

A warning from a metro mom after a 31-year-old man tries to contact her 12-year-old daughter on Facebook.

His intentions point to trouble but he was not breaking the law, because the conversation was not sexual.

It's not illegal for an older man to try and contact a young girl or try and establish a relationship. But most law enforcement agree that could be dangerous. And that's where a parent needs to step in.

"She was like why are you trying to add me, and he was like because you're hot," recalls Tonya Hacker, who saw the message on her daughter's Facebook page.

"It was kind of creepy, my jaw dropped," said Hacker.

The message was from a 31-year-old man who continued to try and correspond with the girl using information from her page to establish a relationship by saying he is the uncle of one of her friends. The man goes on to say the girl is "super-cute" before she ends the conversation.

Tonya was able to see the messages because she keeps a very close eye on her daughter's Facebook account. She also has it linked to her e-mail which means she sees every wall post, picture tag, and friend request.

"I do peek at everyone who tries to add her and luckily this time we were able to catch an adult trying to add a 12-year-old child," said Hacker.

Tonya, doesn't know what the man's intentions were, but she's glad she never had to find out.

"They do it, they're all out there," she said. "We just got to be a little more smarter than they are."

Tonya says she also "cleans up" her daughter's friends list and removes any out-of-towners.
