About 20 Tinker Airmen To Return Home From Iraq Friday

About 20 airmen from the 3rd Combat Communication Group will return to the Tinker Air Force Base on Friday after being deployed to Iraq several months ago.

Tinker officials and family members will welcome the group at 6 p.m. on Friday.

According to officials, the Combat Communication airmen are likely amongst the last groups to leave Iraq. The group have established communications in Iraq nearly eight years ago, and have since deployed 1,000 airmen there to extend, operate and defend communications and information system to support combat operations.

Officials said the remainder of the members will return at a later date.
