Animal Control removed more than a dozen dogs and cats from a home in Southwest Oklahoma City. Officers say the home did not provide adequate care for the animals, now some of the animals will be adopted out.

When animal control arrived to the home they found 39 dogs and a handful of cats in relatively good health, but say the animals were living in poor conditions.

Rodney Pesch with the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter explains control officers found matted and torn blankets in the area where the dogs are to sleep most covered in feces. Pesch says the inside of the home looks similar.

"If there is feces laying around and urine and stuff that can cause other health issues for the animals," Pesch said.

Animal Control immediately removed 18 dogs and two cats from the home on Thursday and left behind 19 animals with orders for the owner to get things cleaned up.

When we tried to check in at the home Friday morning, no one came to the door, so it's unclear what, if any, progress is being made.

Animal Welfare fined the owner more than $1,000 for not having the proper vaccinations for all of the animals. Animal Welfare officers are set to meet with the owner to determine if any additional action will be taken.
