Thieves drove off with a business owner's forklift, leaving nothing but tracks behind. It happened at an auto salvage business near Northeast 23rd and Bryant over the weekend.

Carl Knighten, the business owner, said whoever took the forklift used the battery from another vehicle to jump it, took the hinges off the gate to the salvage lot, and pushed the gate into the street.

Then they drove off in the forklift, which the owner said would be hard to miss.

"It's got a set of short forks on it and it's got a set of long forks, and they're welded together," said Knighten. "It's got big high rise plates on the top of it to keep the cars from coming back on you."

Knighten said his security company is looking at the video from the surveillance cameras to see if they can get a clearer picture of the thieves.
