Oklahomans are bracing for a weekend of wintry weather.

Forecasters say there is a chance of rain across western Oklahoma Friday night that will shift to the east overnight. Precipitation will be widespread on Saturday as rain ends across the western part of the state.

Colder air will filter into the state on Sunday, bringing a chance of snow, sleet and freezing rain. The best chance of freezing rain will be in south central and southeastern Oklahoma.

"The weather will go from irritating to down right irritating, as we go through the weekend into Monday, as three weather systems will impact the state," said Jed Castles, News 9 Meteorologist. "The first system on Saturday will bring a cold rain to the main body of the state and a lot of wind. The second system on Sunday will bring more cold rain and north winds."

Lingering snow showers and flurries may also occur across the state late Monday and Tuesday.

"The third system on Monday will have arctic air that will accompany it, so the chances of winter weather are going up! Exactly how much and what kind are still in question. Stay tuned and have your vehicle ready for winter weather," Castles said.

Temperatures are expected to dip down into the 20s and 30s.
