OKLAHOMA CITY -- The holidays are hard without loved ones, but one grandmother who has lost almost everyone, and who now struggles to raise her three grandchildren alone, says she has much to be thankful for.

Cheryl Henderson lost her 29-year-old daughter to a brain aneurysm last year. Her daughter's three children, Jordan, Kearra, and Alicia lost their mother. Overnight, Henderson became a mother again.

And she is on her own. Her husband died several years ago and her own father died just a few months ago.

Times are tough, and Henderson has struggled to bear the load, emotionally and physically.

Henderson says she has been praying—hard--for months to find an affordable car to fit her growing family and limited budget. Her 12-year-old sedan was simply not up to the task of transporting three growing grandchildren.

Then, someone who knew of Henderson's plight encouraged her to submit an essay to a group that was refurbishing a car to donate to a needy family.

Little did Henderson know when she wrote her essay that her prayers would soon find an answer.

The essay's sponsors chose Henderson's story and presented her family with a refurbished mini-van Monday.

"We are so thankful for all the love and support we have in our lives now, even in the midst of all the tragedy that's going on in our lives Calm Waters and Progressive came together and gave us transportation," Henderson said.
