Police have arrested two people in connection with the death of an 80-year-old man in Norman.

According to an attorney for one of the two suspects, Norman police arrested the two men late Tuesday night in connection with the suspicious death of Clair Owen Pollard.

The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office confirms 58-year-old Billy Dean Battenfield, and 19-year-old Brandon Reed were booked into the jail early Wednesday morning on charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping, and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Police said formal charges against the suspects are pending with the District Attorney's Office.

Norman police began investigating Pollard's death on Monday, when a relative arrived at the house near Highway 9 and 24th Avenue to find Pollard dead.

Investigators told us at that time they found signs Pollard struggled for his life. But police said they are waiting for the medical examiner to determine exactly how Pollard died.

Police have not said if Pollard knew the suspects. But News 9 is learning both men have an extensive criminal history.
