A woman who was reported missing in April has been arrested after police say she lied about being kidnapped, raped and violently abused.

Lori Smallwood, 36, was reported missing from Checotah on April 6, when she told her family she was going to the airport in Oklahoma City to pick up a friend. Police said Smallwood had left her daughter with her father at that time, and asked him to watch her until she returns from the airport.

According to a probable cause affidavit released on Friday, police said Smallwood returned to Oklahoma City on April 26, and told officers she had been kidnapped at gunpoint, raped and violently abused for over two weeks at a house in Oklahoma City.

According to the documents, Smallwood helped police create four composite drawings of the people she claimed assaulted her. However, police said no suspect was ever identified in this case.

Smallwood also reported her car stolen. Police said when it wasn't recovered, insurance paid her $13,000. However, on November 11, officers discovered the car in Reno, Nevada. Police said they received information that Smallwood left Oklahoma City to meet with a man in Reno to "have a new start in her life."

According to police, Smallwood drove from Oklahoma City to Reno to stay with the man. She had told him her mother was very controlling and that's why she left Oklahoma City. After being there for a few weeks, the man said some of the information Smallwood told him did not add up. He then looked her up on the Internet and saw that she was a missing person.

Smallwood took a bus back to Oklahoma City. She went to the VA Medical Center and told police she had been a victim of violent crimes.

After her car was found, Smallwood admitted to police she lied about the crimes. Police said Smallwood told them the composite drawings of the suspects never existed and she had created those people.

Police arrested Smallwood on a complaint of false report of a crime.
