Parents of Moore school children are on alert after receiving a warning from school. The warning came after several students were approached by three young men driving a gray van on East Hill Drive.

School officials warned parents about the men who tried to lure the children with offers of candy.

Eight-year-old Landon Prichard and a 10-year-old friend were walking home from Winding Creek Elementary when the strange men approached.

"I usually don't let him walk home, but I did this time," Melissa Prichard said.

She said she's glad she taught her son about stranger danger and she's glad he took off running when he was approached.

"Of course, my son was terrified. He ran to the closest house,"

Holly Jennings said her husband heard the men. She said she gave police a tag number, but so far, it has not panned out. Police have increased patrols in the area.

"Throughout the school year, we'll get reports… we take very serious," said Jeremy Lewis of the Moore Police Department.

Prichard said she is glad for the extra patrols, but she won't let her son walk home anymore.

"Those teenagers could be as dangerous as adults. We just have to be sure to take care of our children," Melissa Prichard said.

Both Melissa Prichard and the police said the men in the van never tried to get the kids to get in the van, but say one of them did get out and started yelling and cursing at the kids.

People in the neighborhood said they are on the lookout and plan to report anything suspicious.
