LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech sophomore starting cornerback Tre' Porter will miss the remainder of the 2011 season, Tech coach Tommy Tuberville said on Monday.

Porter suffered a head injury in the Red Raiders' home loss to Iowa State on Oct. 29 and did not make the trip with the team to Austin, Texas on Nov. 5.

Porter likely would have been matched up against OSU star receiver Justin Blackmon as the Cowboys travel to Lubbock for the Saturday game.

He recorded 24 tackles, an interception and two pass break-ups in seven games this season.

Senior Sawyer Vest is likely to take Tre' Porter's place in the Texas Tech lineup.

Porter was a four-star recruit who played high school football at Midwest City and also received offers from OU and OSU before committing to Texas Tech.
