Sooner fans reached in their wallets and generously donated to help make the holiday season better for thousands of Oklahomans.
Before OU's game against Texas Tech last weekend, fans helped Josh Heupel's 14 Foundations collect $34,655 as part of its 11th Annual Holiday Food Drive.
"I want to thank the generous OU fans who support us," said Josh Heupel, OU's Co-Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach. "I also want to thank the volunteers, who have worked so hard to help us raise funds and our partners who play such a key role.
The proceeds will help serve meals in 10 Oklahoma communities this holiday season between Nov. 14-21.
"The Holiday Food Drive has impacted a lot of lives since we began during my playing days here, and it's one of the most rewarding projects I've ever been involved with. I hope those who have contributed also sense the good feelings that come from helping others. Without them, none of this could happen."
In the foundation's 10 year history it has served more than 100,000 meals and expects to add as many as 15,000 to that figure this year.
Partners in the 14 Foundation's effort include the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and U.S. Foods.
