Powerful winds swept across Norman Monday night, causing widespread damage.

News 9 Meteorologist Jed Castles said a bow echo moved through the city around 1 p.m. Jed said the strong winds at the apex of the echo measured around 70 mph.

News 9 drove through Norman Tuesday morning and found a lot of damage at Max Westheimer Airport. Doors and metal sheeting were ripped off hangars, fencing was knocked down and debris was scattered across runways. University of Oklahoma spokesperson Catherine Bishop said it appears no OU aircraft were damaged.

In other parts of the city, the wind knocked street signs and a tornado siren to the ground. Broken tree limbs also littered the streets.

No one was hurt in the storms.
