Severe Storms May Bring Flooding To Several Oklahoma Counties

Severe thunderstorms brought heavy rain to several Oklahoma counties Monday night, which may cause significant flooding problems in low lying areas.

At around 10 p.m. Monday, officials said thunderstorms with very heavy rain were moving northeast along and either side of interstate 44, from Cushing through the Oklahoma City metro area, down to near Chickasha and Lawton.

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a flash flood warning for the following counties:

Southeastern Canadian County in central Oklahoma.

Northwestern Cleveland County in central Oklahoma.

Northern Grady County in central Oklahoma.

Lincoln County in central Oklahoma.

Northwestern McClain County in central Oklahoma.

Oklahoma County in central Oklahoma.

Southeastern Payne County in central Oklahoma.

Northwestern Pottawatomie County in central Oklahoma.

Eastern Caddo County in southwest Oklahoma.

Southeastern Logan County in central Oklahoma.

The warning is in effect until 1:15 a.m.

Locations in the warning include Del City, Edmond, Midwest City, Moore, Northwestern Norman and Oklahoma City.

Residents are advised to be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of floods.
