Oklahoma Topples Washburn 85-59

The Sooners won their second exhibition game with an 85-59 win over the Washburn Ichabods.

The Oklahoma Sooners continued exhibition play Sunday with a convincing 85-59 win over the Washburn Ichabods.

The story of the game was the play of Stephen Pledger who came off the bench for the Sooners to score 24 points.

The Sooner bench combined to score 46 of the team's 85 points on the night and Pledger went 5-for-7 from the tree point line for 15 of this 24 points.

As a team the Sooners dominated on the glass pulling down 49 rebounds to Washburn's 29.

OU outshot the Ichabods from the field 47 percent to 32 percent but Washburn held the advantage in turnovers committing 20 to the Sooners 24.

OU head coach Lon Kruger said he was pleased with his teams performance but saw more areas for the Sooners to improve on.

"I saw a lot of good things—but a lot more things were exposed today in terms of things we need to work on like turnovers and such," said Kruger. "We still have a long way to go, but that's what you expect after two exhibition games."

Romero Osby added 13 points and four rebounds for the Sooners while Cameron Clark tallied 11 points and six rebounds.

William McNeill led the Ichabods with 23 points, four steals and four rebounds.

Oklahoma returns to action Friday Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. hosting Idaho State.
