Free shredding services will be provided to metro residents during the "Free Shred Day" in Oklahoma City on Saturday, November 12.
This event will take place from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 5519 N.W. 4th Street. It is hosted by Recycle America, Oklahoma City's contract collection vendor.
Oklahoma City and metro-area residents may bring up to a pickup load, and crews will remove the documents from their vehicles.
According to event organizers, this program is to celebrate American Recycles Day, which is on November 15. Organizers host this event in an effort to help residents safely destroy documents that include personal information, such as social security, or banking and credit card account documents.
Organizers said they will provide a Certificate of Destruction to the residents as proof the documents are completely and securely destroyed.
According to event organizers, residents do not have to bring proof of residency. However, this event is for residents only, not for commercial businesses.
In addition, organizers said Waste Management will accept other recyclables, including cardboard, paper, plastics 1-7, steel and aluminum and glass.
