Some children in Oklahoma City will stay warm and stylish as it gets colder.

Thirty-nine students from two metro elementary schools received coats and shoes as gifts from Oklahoma City firefighters Friday.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department hosted a "Coats for Kids" event at the JC Penney store at Quail Springs Mall Friday morning. The firefighters donated money to help purchase the coats and shoes for those school children in need.

Officials said the children were able to pick the coats and shoes they would like to wear this winter during the JC Penney coat sale event.

According to the fire department, 16 students from Hawthorne Elementary School and 23 students from Wheeler Elementary School participated in this year's event.
