OKLAHOMA CITY -- A Louisiana escapee caught in Oklahoma is listed in critical condition at an Oklahoma City hospital following a high speed pursuit along I-35

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers and U.S. Marshals captured 42-year-old Brian Keith Soileau Wednesday. Soileau escaped from a detention center in south central Louisiana where he was being held for robbing a bank in Vidrine, Louisiana. Authorities said Soileau climbed over a barbed wire fence at the prison in Evangeline County on October 13. On Tuesday, police said Soileau robbed another bank not far from the prison. He got away with about $12,000 and headed west.

His flight from justice ended in Oklahoma when, according to authorities, Soileau was spotted at a Walmart in Norman around 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. He then led troopers and U.S. Marshals on a 30 mile high-speed pursuit on Interstate 35 the wrong way. Troopers said Soileau topped out at speeds of 95 MPH, driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-35. The pursuit ended near Davis.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol said shots were fired by law enforcement. Soileau was transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City by helicopter. He's expected to recover. Two Oklahoma troopers went to a local hospital with minor injuries.

While traffic was diverted off of I-35 near Davis during the suspect's capture, all southbound and northbound lanes are now open.
