ADA, Oklahoma -- A dog that has eluded dog catchers and police for weeks, is safe.

PAWS animal shelter tells News 9 "Arlington" is safe in their care after Ada animal control officers sedated the dog Wednesday night.

She was a little groggy and scared Thursday morning but shelter workers are relieved the dog who is named after a busy street in town won't get hit or hurt.

The shelter has been getting flooded with calls from people wanting to adopt the dog who eluded dog catchers, firefighters and local police for weeks.

The shelter says they will not be answering calls about adopting Arlington until next Wednesday October 26.

The application process will be have to be thorough they say since the dog is known to have a sneaky side run away.

Adoption forms can be filled out starting next week at PAWS online.
