My 2 Cents: Gumbel Throws Race-Baiting Tantrum

OKLAHOMA CITY -- What in the world was Bryant Gumbel thinking last night when he threw his race baiting tantrum about the NBA lockout?

Gumbel, who I usually admire, tarred and feathered the NBA commissioner, David Stern, last night comparing him to a modern plantation overseer treating the NBA men as if they were his boys.

How insulting to the memories of men and women who suffered through America's era of slavery.

Yes, these NBA men are really suffering. I wince every time I see one of them forced to drive a $100,000 car, or being pampered at the country's finest hotels--heartbreaking.

Stern expects the average NBA player to survive on only $4.5 million dollars a year. Have you no heart man!

Gumbel criticized Stern's self-serving edicts like the sports coat requirement for players sitting with the team but not in uniform.

Bryant, do you seriously not get the point of that, cleaning up the players, moving away from the hip hop culture that was alienating a good portion of the expensive ticket-buying public?

Gumbel closed by saying some will cringe at the characterization of Stern as a slave overseer.

I wanted to check your pupils.
