OKLAHOMA CITY -- A teenager accused of arson and murder appeared in court Friday. Tristan Owen allegedly started a fire that killed an elderly couple in south Oklahoma City.

Fifteen-year-old Tristan Owen appeared with his attorney in court. In the front row were his grandparents, mother and close friends of the family.

Owen is facing two counts of First-Degree murder and one count of arson in the deaths of Boyd and Doris Haynes, who lived just down the street. The two died of smoke inhalation after a fire engulfed their garage and started spreading through the home.

Court papers reveal Owen confessed to making Molotov cocktails and burning trash in trash cans in the area. But he has denied intentionally setting the fire to the Hayne's home.

Owen's friends testified he appeared to be on something earlier in the evening and said he may have been under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
