OKLAHOMA CITY – It's been more than a year since the renovations of the Myriad Gardens began. Now, all that work will be revealed during a free day-long celebration on Saturday, October 15.

"Festival on the Green" will over live music and hands-on children's activities, a pumpkin patch and farmers' market. Hosted by the Myriad Gardens Foundation and Devon Energy, the event is perfect for the entire family, including pets.

"Festival on the Green will be a fantastic way to celebrate the reopening of this downtown landmark," said Wendi Schuur, Devon Energy's director of public and community affairs. "People will be amazed at how dramatically the Myriad Gardens has been transformed over the past year."

The $42 million renovation completely redesigned the Myriad Gardens. New elements of the 17-acre gardens include a band shell, grand event lawn, special event pavilion, off-leash dog area, seasonal ice rink and restaurant.

Renovated Myriad Gardens

The new children's garden offers interactive features such as a hedge maze, story tree, climbing play area and a splash fountain inspired by Oklahoma thunderstorms.

Festival on the Green is geared toward families and will offer a wide range of entertainment including appearances by juggling magicians, face painters, balloon artists and the Oklahoma City Thunder's mascot, Rumble the Bison.

Other free activities include pumpkin painting, admission to the Crystal Bridge, remote-controlled boat cruises and live music performances throughout the day. The event will end under the stars with a live concert featuring red dirt country artist Pat Green.

The gardens' renovation is the first completed project of Oklahoma City's Project 180. More downtown beautification efforts are planned.
