OKLAHOMA CITY -- Hank Williams Jr. says he's taking all of his rowdy friends and quitting. ESPN says they canned him.

Either way it all seems a little extreme, from Williams over the top denouncement of the President, to the sports network's reaction to it.

If you missed it, Hank, Jr., appearing on Fox and Friends, compared President Obama playing golf with the Republican Speaker of the House to Hitler playing with the Prime Minister of Israel.

The point I believe he was making was that they are political enemies, not that the President was capable of the atrocities committed under the Third Reich.

Someone at ESPN decided it was just too much, and pulled the plug on their Monday Night Football relationship with the theme song singer.

It's a good thing all of the networks haven't taken such a stand, or during the Bush years the Hitler comparisons would have almost wiped the airwaves clean of entertainers.

Williams later admitted the comparison was extreme, stupid really, evoking Hitler's name at any time undercuts the very argument you're trying to make.

But yanking him off the air after all these years? He's Hank Williams, Jr., not Andy Williams.

Lighten up.
