Oklahoma Sooners Report Card: Ball State Cardinals

Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma came away with a 56-point win over the Ball State Cardinals Saturday, earning them high marks from Oklahoma City sports director Dean Blevins as he compiled his weekly report card.

The Sooners had no trouble moving the ball against the Cardinals' defense Saturday, racking up 655 total yards on 77 plays for an average of 8.5 yards per play. Landry Jones threw for 425 yards and five touchdowns, but threw one interception, while Ryan Broyles was electric with 109 yards and a score on just four receptions.

Defensively, Oklahoma had no trouble with Ball State, holding the Cardinals to just 214 total yards, including just 95 passing yards. The Sooners came way with four takeaways in the game, three interceptions and a fumble from quarterback Keith Wenning.

Place kicker Mike Hunnicutt was 2-of-3 on the night, missing a 30-yard field goal at the end of the second quarter, and a muffed punt by Ryan Broyles could have cost the Sooners in a closer game.
