Norman Police Win National Police Shooting Championship Awards

NORMAN, Oklahoma – Officers from the Norman Police Department participated in the National Police Shooting Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and brought home several awards.

The championships took place from September 17 to 22. According to the police department, during the event, officers used a variety of firearms including revolvers, semi-automatic handguns, shotguns and rifles from distances of three, seven, 15, 25 and 50 yards.

Norman police officers earned the following awards during the championships:

Det. David King--one 1st, one 2nd, and one 3rd place award.

Sergeant Robert Wasoski--three 1st, one 2nd and four 3rd place awards.

Sergeant William Crews--five 1st, one 2nd, and two 3rd place awards.

MPO Joshua Barker--four 1st and three 3rd place awards.

Officer Jeremy Garnand--one 1st, one 2nd, and eight 3rd place awards.

Officer Christopher Vinson--two 1st, one 2nd, and three 3rd place awards.

According to police, Sergeant Crews succeeded in earning a position on the coveted President's 100. This award is given to the top shooters at the National Police Shooting Championships.

Nearly 600 persons from federal, state, county and municipal agencies competed in this event.
