Oklahoma City, El Reno To Give Away Free Trees To Citizens

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City, along with the Tree Band Foundation, are offering 1,000 free trees to citizens as part of the "Great OKC Tree Give-Away" event. The City of El Reno will also be giving away free trees to its residents.

According to the press release, resident in Oklahoma City who want a free tree must pre-register, and only citizens living inside the corporate limits are eligible.

This includes residents who are served by Oklahoma City Police and/or Fire Department. Having an Oklahoma City utilities bill is not a sole qualifier.

The program is open to private residences only, and there is a limit of one tree per household, according to officials.

Distribution will take place on Saturday, October 29 at the OSU-OKC Physical Plant, located at 930 North Portland Avenue. Residents picking up their trees must bring their registration confirmation card.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. on Thursday, October 6. You may register through the City's website, or call (405)-604-0041.

The City of El Reno will also be giving away 1,000 free trees to its citizens. From 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 8, residents will be able to come by the El Reno Municipal Building at 101 North Choctaw Avenue and receive up to five free trees per household.

The trees will be given to citizens and businesses to plant on their property, according to the city officials.

Residents in El Reno who would like their free trees will need to bring either:

1) a current utility bill with identification

2) a driver's license reflecting current their address for residency verification.

Officials said only El Reno residents are eligible to receive the trees. Residents will be able to choose from the following tree species: maple, elm, bald cypress, oak and redbud. Varies and types may vary at time of giveaway.
