OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office has issued a warning to residents about a phone scam.

According to the sheriff's office, a resident reported the scam to deputies. The suspicious resident told deputies that when the call came in, 911 was displayed on the caller ID. The caller said she was with the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office and even gave a fake badge number of 10455.

The resident said the caller went on to tell the resident he had a fraud complaint made against him in the state of South Carolina, and that if it wasn't resolved, the resident would be arrested.

The resident luckily did not release any information to the caller and reported the phone call to the sheriff's office.

During the phone call the resident was given the phone number of (336) 308-3196. Investigators did a simple search through Google and determined the phone number is associated with reported scams nationwide.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office advises if anyone receives a phone call like this to:

• Get as much information as possible (names, phone numbers, street address, etc.)

• Verify/report with the actual law enforcement agency.

• Never release any personal information including social security, banking, etc., over the phone.
