Kelly Ogle, News 9

Perhaps someone can help me understand the allure of the confederate flag.

I raise this question, because a 51-year-old woman in a predominantly African American neighborhood in South Carolina refuses to take down her rebel flag despite protests by her neighbors.

She says she's not racist, just proud of her southern heritage.

But many people in her neighborhood are offended by it, and built fences to block the view.

Then she raised the flag higher, and her next door neighbor, and African American planted an American flag on the other side of the fence right next to it.

Specifically what part of your Southern heritage are you trying to honor by flying the Dixie flag? It's a serious question, I'm not being sarcastic.

And I'm not saying that people who fly the Confederate flag are racist, that's unfair. But isn't it relevant that to millions of American's, probably a vast majority, that flag represents slavery and oppression, and a bitter divide that nearly destroyed this country.

I'm just trying to understand what ideals of the South people are embracing by flying the Confederate flag.

Weekend Starts Wet; Storms Could Be Severe Early Saturday

Oklahoma had been so dry for so long, there's no way anybody will complain about a little more rain as we head into the weekend. Right? We've got two waves of the wet stuff headed across the Sooner State through Saturday. The first is what you'll see outside Friday night. It's relatively light, and as the night progresses, central Oklahoma has about a 60-percent chance of getting rain.
